The brief

Cobble was a client I was focused on designing for during my years with the Pepperplane team. I began working with them shortly after I joined the team in mid-2022, immediately finding a connection with them through what I could deliver as well as how easy it was to work together.

You can find out more about what they do on their website:

trycobble.com

Ongoing for some time, right through till I moved on from the Pepperplane team in mid-2024, the brief was simple: to redesign their app experience from the ground up and make Cobble the best group-decision-making tool in the market.

We did this through three separate focus areas:

User interviews

UX design

UX design

UX design

UI design

User research

My first interaction with Cobble came in the form of interviews conducted with a targeted participant pool. Our task was to define key points of friction within their current system, and to then propose the UX and UI solutions for them.

From script development to interview testing, the experience was invaluable as it helped refine my communication skills while representing another company, and strengthened my ability to target questions for user experience research.

Experience design

Once our interviews were complete, and the stakeholders had reviewed our findings, it was now up to us to solve the critical user experience problems. We started with user flows and user stories, helping us to define not only where their current flaws were, but to define new paths their users could take for a more efficient and friendly experience on the app.

From here, we developed lo-fidelity and there after hi-fidelity wireframes to confirm our proposed solutions before moving onto the visual designs and incorporating their brand identity.

Visual design

Using Cobble’s existing brand identity, we started building them a simple design system with reusable components and variable elements to more efficiently design across multiple nuanced screens and flows, but also to improve our handover to their development team.

This allowed us to scale our designs more efficiently, and afforded other designers to more easily hop into our Figma files and assist without too much of an onboarding experience. The result of our visual design work was felt in our own organisation and in the Cobble team, having brought new life to their designs and promising a smoother experience for their users.

Being one of the most holistic design experiences I’ve had in my UX/UI career, I look forward to more opportunities to be involved at such a granular level in digital product design.
